Through visual art, video, and music, Wyatt Bertz explores the omnipresent power of consumer culture, and the way it has defined our outer and inner landscapes. Mining his experience growing up in American suburbia, his autobiographical animated short films feature warped interpretations of familiar brands and suburban scenes. His physical work, ranging from immersive kinetic sculpture to kids’ toys, deconstructs and reimagines the built world, and with a focus on public space and interaction, invites everyone to create new experiences with it. Recent presentations of his work have included NADA New York, Cristina Grajales, Chashama, The Future Perfect, Jonald Dudd, The Emily Harvey Foundation, Transgressive Records, The Orchard, Thirty Tigers, Little Lightning Gallery, CLEA RSKY West, Bombay Beach Biennale, Newtown Creek Alliance, Stephen Street Gallery, Ridgewood Off-Kilter, and nonfilms.
